Meet Giselle Rivera, a determined individual who discovered a newfound passion and purpose through the HOPE Works Program. This transformative initiative has provided Giselle with the necessary tools and support to embark on a journey of personal and professional growth.
How did Giselle find out about the Hope Works Program?
Giselle first learned about the Hope Works Program through a referral from the Urban League of Rochester. What intrigued her about pursuing woodworking and welding was her innate love for creating unique pieces of custom art. She envisioned opening her own art studio someday, and she recognized that developing these skills would be a crucial step toward achieving her long-term dream.
How did Hope Works help Giselle find her passion?
During this time at Hope Woodworks, Giselle found her passion for welding. She thoroughly enjoyed cutting and fabricating materials to create bed frames for families in need. Beyond the joy of creation, she realized the immense value of this skill, both in terms of personal fulfillment and employment opportunities.
The Employability Readiness Training offered by Hope Works further enriched Giselle’s experience. Among the various modules, she particularly appreciated learning how to maintain professionalism in the workplace, navigate communication challenges, and effectively manage conflicts. These invaluable skills not only applied to the job market but also had a positive impact on her everyday life. She is applying her newly acquired skills as a member of the local Habitat for Humanity team.
How does Giselle describe Hope Works?
When asked to describe HOPE Works to others, Giselle said that “it is a program that not only enhances professionalism and workforce readiness but also prepares individuals for success in their day-to-day lives”. The program provides guidance and support in setting and achieving personal goals, helping participants build a brighter future.
What motivates Giselle the most?
Leading motivational drive comes from her unwavering love for her daughter. Every day, she is driven to work hard and provide her with a better life than she had. She serves as a constant reminder of the importance of perseverance and dedication.
Giselle’s journey with HOPE Works is a testament to the program’s transformative power. Through the guidance and resources provided, she has gained valuable skills, honed her passion, and developed a sense of purpose.
